Bettye Ruth Downs

Bettye Downs, 81, passed away Monday, July 6, 2009. Funeral: 11:00 a.m., Thursday at White's Chapel of Memories. Interment: 3:00 p.m., Friday at Memorial Park Cemetery in Littlefield. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday at the funeral home. Bettye Downs was born March 19, 1928 in Quanah, daughter of the late Chester and Lula Johnson. She was a long time resident of Aledo. Mrs. Downs enjoyed reading and working cross word puzzles. She was a wonderful and loving mother and grandmother. Bettye was preceded in death by her parents; husband, W.E.; two sisters and two brothers. Survivors include: daughter, Dana Hayes and husband, Gary of Aledo; sons, Buster Sanders and wife, Lisa of Fort Worth, Charlie Sanders of New Braunfuls; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sisters, Twylla Land and husband, Bob of Aledo, Tawana Gideon of Dallas; brother, Houston Johnson of Godley; and her special petdog, Cinderella.
