PARADISE -- Truman Prater, 83, passed away Wednesday, July 1, 2009. Funeral: 10 a.m. Friday at Hilltop Family Church. Interment: Springtown Cemetery. T.W. was born Aug. 22, 1925, in Bowie to Edward "Edd" Henderson Prater and Sarah "Sallie" Morris. He met Gertrude Elizabeth Nobles and married her on Sept. 16, 1943. To this union were born four children. When he retired from Trinity Industries in 1994, he and Gertrude moved from Fort Worth to Paradise where he was always mowing and enjoying family get-togethers. T.W. honorably served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years; and sons, Truman Edward and Robert Wilson Prater. Survivors: Son, Donald Prater of Paradise; daughter, Deborah Prater-Blanton of Roanoke; daughter-in-law, Virginia Prater of Springtown, grandchildren, Donald Prater Jr. and wife, Holly, of Crowley, Brandy Tinney of Paradise, Raina Prater of Fort Worth, Jonathan Prater, Monte Blanton of Arlington, Demi McCampbell of Frisco, Ted Blanton of Fort Worth, Tech. Sgt.
