SPRINGTOWN -- Loris Dommert, 82, passed away Wednesday, May 27, 2009, at home in Springtown. Funeral: 10 a.m. Saturday at Agnes Baptist Church. Interment: Eakins Cemetery in Ponder. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at White's Funeral Home. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Loris' name to Agnes Baptist Church. Loris was born July 10, 1926, in Justin to Fred and Ruth Mize. She married her husband, Harold, Feb. 12, 1949, and they traveled to various locations while Harold was in the United States Air Force, from Goose Bay, Labrador, to Carswell AFB in Fort Worth before settling in Springtown. Loris enjoyed gardening and taking care of her pets. She was a member of Agnes Baptist Church. She enjoyed fellowship with the members of her church as well as new acquaintances. Loris was referred to as the "hugging granny" in her church. She had a colorful sense of humor and was most comfortable knowing she had shared the joy of Christ with other people. Loris enjoyed the opportunity to gather with family and friends to share stories and laughs and especially looked forward to her nephew's annual fish fry. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold, and sister, Martyne Stokes. Survivors: Sons, Chuck Dommert and wife, Teri of Peaster; David Dommert and wife, Ruth of Weatherford, James Dommert and wife, Joyce of Venus; brother, Johnny Mize and wife, Gloria, of Krum; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
