Barbara Lee Tinsley Mills of Weatherford went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on April 8, 2009. Funeral: 10 a.m., Saturday at First United Methodist Church. Visitation: 6-8 p.m., Friday at the funeral home. Interment: Memory Gardens of the Valley. Barbara was born in Lynchburg, VA on February 5, 1928 to John Covington and Ellabell Carter Tinsley. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Weatherford where she served in the Chancel Choir and Bell Choirs. Barbara also served the Lord as a Sunday school teacher as well as many other capacities. Many of the beautiful flowers on the church grounds were labors of her love. Mrs. Mills was also a teacher, teaching in Granbury ISD, Fort Worth ISD and Hockaday School in Dallas. Not only was she a school teacher, but a swimming instructor. For many years she would spend her summers teaching children and adults to love the water as much as she did. She was loved by all of her students. She also worked as a leader trainer for the Girl Scouts. Mrs. Mills was preceded in death by her husband, Cleburn Mills; her parents; brothers, John and William Carter; sister, Ann. Survivors include, daughter, Cathy Mills Nations and husband, Loyd; grandchildren, Bryce and Cash, all of Grand Saline; son, Robert of Weatherford; brother, Robert S. Tinsley of Titusville, FL; and many nieces and nephews.
