Sam Cogburn, 67, passed away Saturday, April 4, 2009, after a short battle with cancer, her loving daughters by her side. Funeral: 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 8 at White's Funeral Home in Weatherford. Interment will follow in East Greenwood Cemetery. Following the funeral, family and friends will gather at the home of Mrs. Cogburn. Celetration of Life will be 3:00 p.m. at Sam's Bulldog Saloon, 3512 Altamere, Fort Worth. Sam was born in Weatherford, however lived most of her life in Ft. Worth. She retired from Harris Hospital as a nurse and later became a bar owner until her death. Sam owned Sam's Bulldog Saloon on Ft. Worth's west side. All her family and friends knew her as "the getter done lady" and if you ever needed help, you knew who to call. Sam was preceded in death by her parents, Wayne "Hack" Moore and Mollie Viola Moore Adams; son, Weston Harlon; sisters, Velita and Starr Lynn; and step-father, Sylvan Adams. Survivors: Loving Companion of 20 years, Ronald Blankenship; daughters, Melinda Tomlin, Denise Parrish, Denna Landes and husband, Wade; sisters, Harlene Gaskamp, Stormy Moore-Moffat and husband, Barry; eight grandchildren; one great-granddaughter, Katelin on the way; numerous nieces and nephews; and many close and dear friends.
