June 13, 1932 — April 3, 2009

June Elinor Camp Romero, 76, a loving wife, mother and grandmother, passed away Friday, April 3, 2009 in Fort Worth. Services will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday at St. Stephens Catholic Church, 1802 Bethel Road, Weatherford. Interment will follow in Annetta Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 to 7 p.m. with Rosary at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at White's Funeral Home in Weatherford. In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to the ASPCA, American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty of Animals either by phone at 1-800-628-0028 or www.aspca.org/donate/. June was born June 13, 1932 to Walter Leroy Camp Jr. and Henrietta Kesler Riley in Atlantic City, NJ. She grew up in Atlantic City and worked as an x-ray technician for ten years in New Jersey, Philadelphia, New York and Fort Worth. June married Horace Romero on September 15, 1956 and they had two children in the early 60's. They moved to Weatherford in 1973. She concentrated on being a wife and mother for many years and then earned her bachelor's degree in education in 1990. June taught for a few years and then retired with her husband. She enjoyed her grandchildren, animals, gardening, quilting, painting, church and reading. June was a woman of great faith and uncompromising values. She was proud of her German, Jewish and Cherokee heritages. June is preceded in death by her parents, Walter Leroy and Henrietta Kesler Camp Jr.; her brother, Leroy Camp and his wife, Pat; her sister, Janet Camp; and sister-in-law Tammy Camp. She is survived by her husband, Horace Romero, brother, Wayne Camp; daughter Donna Schoonover and her husband, Ben of Weatherford; son, Henry Romero and wife, Elizabeth who live near Houston; three grandchildren, Toby Lee Schoonover, Catherine Grace Romero and Stephen Christopher Romero; many nieces and nephews; her dog Willie, and her cats Andy and Sasparilla. She will be greatly missed by all. The family wishes to thank Odyssey House Hospice in Fort Worth for their loving and compassionate care the last week of June's life.
