Demetra Mae Olson, 82, passed away Sunday, March 29, 2009, in Arlington. Graveside service: 1 p.m. Thursday in Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas. Demetra "Tippy" Olson was born April 2, 1926, in San Angelo, daughter of the late Fredrick and Johnnie B. Herring Norvelle. She loved and had a great outlook on life and was known for her infectious laughter. Demetra was very dedicated to Richard, her husband of 63 years. She was a resident of Weatherford for about 20 years and a lifelong Baptist. Mrs. Olson loved to sew. Tippy was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Olson in 2005; sister, Launa Carter; and her parents. Survivors: Sons, Bruce Olson and wife, Becky, of Park City, Utah, Delbert Olson and wife, Charlotte, of Arlington, Mickey Olson and wife, Jeannell, of Weatherford; daughter, April Smith and husband, Sammie, of Albuquerque, N.M.; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sister, Oleta Hooks of Amarillo; and brother, Donald Norvelle and wife Evelyn of Stillwater, Okla.; and a host of loving family and friends.
