Gwen Martin

Gwen Martin, 83, passed away Sunday, March 22, 2009, in Weatherford. Gwen Martin was born Oct. 5, 1925, in Geronimo, Okla., daughter of the late Alba L. and Ethel M. Harrison Johnson. She was a longtime resident of Parker County. Gwen married Otis Glen Martin, in Fort Worth on May 7, 1981. She was active in the Moose Lodge and a member of New Hope Baptist Church. Gwen loved to watch pro football (especially the Dallas Cowboys) and pro golf. Gwen was preceded in death by her husband, Otis Glen Martin; her parents; brother, Donald Johnson; and two grandchildren. Survivors: Survived by daughter Cheryl Cave of Weatherford, Texas; sons Don Akin and wife Patsy of Tulsa Okla., Charles Akin and wife Helen of Dennis, Gerald Akin of Weatherford; sister Nelda Brewer and Husband Benny of Burleson; and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and her beloved dog Kizzy.
