Gladys Evelyn McTasney

Gladys Evelyn McTasney, 84, a longtime resident of the Soda Springs community, passed away Monday, March 2, 2009. Graveside service: 9:30 a.m. Thursday in Soda Springs Cemetery. Gladys was born in Nashville, Ill., the daughter of Peter and Eda Ernst. She married John McTasney and raised four children in Granite City, Ill. Gladys worked for many years as a civil service secretary. She was an avid hand quilter and loved traveling after retirement. Gladys was preceded in death by her husband, John; son, Ronald; sister, Alberta; and brother, Herschel Ernst. Survivors: Son, Richard McTasney and wife, Kay; daughters, Sharon Bist and Marsha VanDyke and husband, Lee; daughter-in-law, Barbara McTasney; 12 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.
