Frances Norman Cox

Frances Norman "Granny Fran" Cox peacefully joined her beloved husband on Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2009 surrounded by her family.

 Funeral: A memorial service in Fran's memory will be held at 11:00a.m., Saturday, Feb. 28 at White's Funeral Home in Mineral Wells officiated by Rev. Holmes. 

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday at the funeral home.

 Memorial: Her memory may be honored with a gift to a charity of choice. Fran was born March 26, 1925 to Jim Lee Norman and Bernice Norman in Weatherford. She graduated from Weatherford High School and attended business school at Weatherford College. Fran married Jesse Ober Cox in Norfolk, VA where he was stationed in the Navy. They later moved to Odessa and in 1959 they moved to Mineral Wells. Fran and J.O. worked together in health care enterprises until his death in 1981. Fran loved geneology, reading and was a master at crossword puzzles. She was happiest when she was preparing holiday feasts and baking her famous "buttermilk pie" for family and friends. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Fran was the pillar of her family. 

Survivors: She is survived by her daughters, Susanne Cox, Carolyn Smith and husband, Allan all of Mineral Wells, and Phyllis Frank and husband, Jim of Ft. Worth; grandchildren, Jeff Roe of Mineral Wells, Tracy Poynor and husband, Brad of Ft. Worth, Dustin Smith and wife, Lindy of Granbury, Jett Smith of San Antonio, Jacye Smith of Mineral Wells; and numerous great-grandchildren.
