Melvin Ray Robinson

Melvin "Mel" Robinson, 76, went to be with the Lord Saturday, February 21, 2009 after a short battle with cancer. Funeral Service: 10:00 A.M. Thursday in White's Azle Chapel. Interment: Ash Creek Cemetery. Visitation: 6 to 8 P.M. Wednesday at White's Azle Funeral Home.Mel was born September 28, 1932 to Luther and Mae Brown Robinson. He was in the United States Navy from 1950 to 1954 during the Korean War, where he learned photography. Mel later went to work for Lockheed, retiring in 1996 after 37 1/2 years as a photographer. He was a Mason at the Lake Worth Lodge #1410 AFAM since 1966 and was 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason.Mel married Shirley Twyman October 29, 1955 in Lake Worth. They were married for 53 1/2 years. Mel was active in the community for several years as a councilman and little league coach. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Dale Robinson and sister Emma Martin.He is survived by his wife, Shirley Robinson; sons, Trey Robinson and wife, Lisa of Arlington, Don Robinson and wife, Tammi of Fort Worth; grandchildren, Craig, Chelsea, Hunter, Megan and Haleigh; numerous nieces and nephews; one special niece, Carolyn Reaves and a host of friends from the Western Wheelers Camping Club.
