William Gus Vincent

September 30, 1936 — February 7, 2009

William Gus "Bill" Vincent, Jr., 72, died peacefully Saturday, February 7, 2009, after a challenging struggle with frontal temporal lobe dementia.Born, September 30, 1936, Bill was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend and a respected mentor and businessman. After graduating from Weatherford High School in 1954 he attended University of North Texas before receiving his degree from the University of Houston School of Pharmacy in 1959. Bill so enjoyed being a pharmacist and owned Bill Vincent's Pharmacy for more than 27 years. His entrepreneurial spirit enabled him to implement his ideas and convert them to successful businesses and real estate development projects. Through his many business ventures he served as a mentor to young men and women and supported their goals.He loved Weatherford and served his community through various boards and clubs, including Weatherford College Board of Trustees, Project Opportunity of Parker County, Board of Directors of First National Bank, Couts Methodist Church, and Parker County Crime Commission. He was a 52-year member of the Knights of Pythias and founded the Evening Lion's Club. He was past President of the Weatherford Booster Club.Bill loved spending time with his family and friends at the lake, on the golf course and in his travels. He was adventurous and enjoyed exploring new places and experiencing new things. He will be remembered for his smile, his optimism and his genuine interest in people. He was a kind man with a good heart. His parents, Gus and Bernardine Vincent and a brother, Jack Vincent, preceded him in death. Those left to cherish the memories are his wife of 49 years, Kay White Vincent of Weatherford, his daughter, Kim Butler and husband, Bruce and his son, Mark Vincent and wife, Betsy and four grandchildren Blaire and Brooke Butler and Gus and Ford Garrison Vincent, all of Dallas. Memorial service will be at 4:00 p.m. Thursday, Feb.12, at Couts Memorial United Methodist Church following a private burial. Visitation will be held from 5 to7 p.m. Wednesday at the family residence.In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to the Bill Vincent Endowed Scholarship Fund, Weatherford College, 225 College Park Drive, 76086, or James L. West Special Care Center, 1111 Summit, Ft. Worth, 76102.
