WEATHERFORD -- Mickey Ruth Cardwell Patton, 66, passed away Sunday, Dec. 14, 2008, surrounded by family at a care facility in Fort Worth. Funeral: 2 p.m. Wednesday at Northside Baptist Church, 910 N. Main St., Weatherford. Interment: East Greenwood Cemetery, Front and Mill streets, Weatherford. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at White's Funeral Home, 130 Houston Ave., Weatherford. Mickey Ruth Cardwell was born Aug. 19, 1942, in Brock, daughter of Wayne and Irene Cardwell. She was a lifelong resident of Parker County and graduated from Brock High School and Weatherford College. In 1969, Mickey graduated from North Texas State University with a bachelor of science degree and in 1987 she received her master of education degree. In May 1990, she received her professional administrator midmanagement certification from Tarleton State University. It was this accomplishment that made Mickey so proud. Mickey taught for 24 years at Weatherford High School in the business administration department. After her retirement in 1991, Mickey spent her time with many, many hobbies but especially loved spending time with her granddaughter, Lacey Rae. Mickey was a longtime member of Northside Baptist Church as well as the Joy Sunday School Class. Mickey was a fighter and survivor and always thought of others before herself. Mickey was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Rachael Katherine Gibson, in 1999; and grandmother, Verdie Bantau. Survivors: Daughter, Dina Gibson and husband, Danny; granddaughter, Lacey Rae Gibson, all of Weatherford; parents, Wayne and Irene Cardwell of Brock; sister, Brenda Hagan of Weatherford; brother, Gerald Cardwell and wife, Becky, of Denton; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; and a host of loving friends.
