Gladys Collins "Memaw" Lee went home to be with our Lord April 11, 2008 in Azle, TX at the age of 100 years, four months, and one day. Gladys Iona was born December 10, 1907 to William and May Standlee in New Castle, OK. She graduated from Blanchard High School. Mrs. Lee was a longtime member of First Baptist Church in Purcell, OK. She worked for many years as a silk finisher for a dry cleaners in Purcell. One of her greatest joys was teaching little children about the love of Jesus. Gladys was an avid gardener. She enjoyed growing both vegetables and flowers and she was most generous with the fruits of her labor, sharing with both neighbors and family. Memaw made sure each of her family members were gifted with a hand sewn quilt made by her with love.She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Cecil R. Collins; son, Cecil W. Collins; second husband, James Bernie Lee; brother, Lester Standlee; sister, Wanda Lee Dunks; son-in-law, Jim Abshire, Sr.; granddaughter, Pamela Collins Rasmussen; grandson, Jim Abshire, Jr. ; and son, Horace Ray Collins.Mrs. Lee is survived by: daughter, Fiquanda (Sue) Abshire of Azle, TX; son, Bobby Gene Collins of Gillette, WY; daughter-in-law, Oneita Collins of Gillette, WY; grandchildren, Tommy Abshire of Little Rock, Ark., Derrel Collins of Reno, Nev., Vickie Domyanic of Bowie, TX, Gary Abshire of Azle, TX, Sharon Brumitt of Indianapolis, IN; Johnny Collins of Gillette, WY, and Misty Collins of Rapid City, SD; 11 great- grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren, and one great-great-great-grandchild.
