Wilmer A. Slaton,91, passed away in Weatherford, Thursday, April 10, 2008. Cryptside Service: 1:00 P.M. Monday, April 14 at Restland Memorial Park in Yoakum, Texas. Memorials: In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his name to the American Heart Association, 2401 Scott Avenue, Fort Worth, TX 76103. Wilmer was born March 10, 1917 in Kenefic, Okla. to Ross and Goldie Slaton. He had a great love for farming and gardening. Wilmer also had a passion for livestock. He served his country in the United States Army during World War II. Wilmer moved to Texas in 1940 and had a 40 year career with Union Carbide in Texas City, retiring in the early 80's. He then moved to Hallettsville where he was a member of the First United Methodist Church. He moved to Weatherford in 2006 to live with his daughter, Barbara and her husband, Stan after his wife, Leola passed away. He was preceded in death by his wife, Leola; his parents, 3 sisters, son, Ardith Slaton, stepson, Mike Reeves,and grandson, David Slaton. Survivors: daughter, Barbara Stanislav and husband, Stan of Weatherford; stepdaughters, Linda Raun and husband, Layton of El Campo and Dieda Bourne and husband, William of Hawaii; daughter-in-law, Elda Slaton of Pasadena; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
