Willard L. Walker, 83, of Brock, passed away Monday, December 17, 2007 at a Granbury care home.Willard Louis Walker, the ninth born child of Robert Lee and Beulah Dovie Vaught Walker, was born November 24, 1924 in Hermleigh, Texas. He was a 1942 graduate of Dennis High School. Mr. Walker was honorably discharged from the United States Army after serving in the South Pacific during World War II. He was awarded the Bronze Star and Purple Heart medals for his service.Mr. Walker married Joyce Maxine Bell, June 2, 1946. He worked for many years in the water well drilling business in Parker County prior to retiring after 23 years of employment with the United States government, working in refrigeration repair. Mr. Walker had lived in the Brock community since August 1964, and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Brock as well as being instrumental in the establishment of the Brock Community Center.He was preceded in death by his son, Harold Walker in 1968, parents, four sisters, four brothers.Survivors include his wife, Joyce Walker of Brock; sons, Ronnie Walker and wife, Linda of Weatherford, Ralph Walker and wife, Barbara of Brock, and David Walker and wife, Sharon of Trophy Club; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one expectant great-grandchild; numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of loving family and friends. Funeral services are scheduled 10 a.m. Thursday, December 20, 2007 at White's Chapel of Memories in Weatherford. Burial will follow in the Brock Cemetery, Brock. The family will receive guests 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.The Walker family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorials be made in Willard's name to the building fund at First Baptist Church of Brock, 105 Lazy Bend Road, Brock.
