Oma Beatrice Newby, 92, a retired dairywoman, homemaker and farmer, passed away Sunday, June 5, 2005, in Azle.
Funeral: 10 a.m. Wednesday at White's Funeral Home Chapel in Springtown.
Burial: Springtown Cemetery.
Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Oma Beatrice Newby was born May 2, 1913, to Robert and Lela Nevada Morehead Banks in Cottondale. She was a member of Springtown Church of Christ. Mrs. Newby, an avid quilter, had quilted over 480 quilts in her lifetime.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Newby; sons, Lee L. Newby and Arvill Gene Newby; daughter, Leone Newby; her parents; and five brothers.
Survivors: Daughter, Margaret Swanzy and husband, Eddy, of Springtown; grandsons, Mark, Stan, Shawn and Craig Newby, David, Richard and Shea Sumlin, Skip Carter; granddaughters, Teri Carter, Lari Leigh Klien, Merry Glasscock; 13 great-grandchildren; sisters, Emma Lou Slate of Weatherford, Renez Richardson of Paradise, Ruby Taylor of Wautaga; and many nieces, nephews and relatives.
