James Maurice Carey

James Maurice Carey, 85, died Wednesday, February 11, 2004 in Azle. 

A private memorial service will be held at a later date. 

James Carey was born January 17, 1919 in Mineral Wells, Texas to Thomas and Cecil Maurice Carey. Mr. Carey was a longtime resident of Springtown. 

He served honorably in WWII and was a survivor of the Bataan Death March.. Following the military service, he worked 20 years at Carswell Air Force Base. He enjoyed homelife and his dogs. He was a member of VFW Post 2137.

 He was preceded in death by his parents and four sisters.

 He is survived by his wife, Evelyn of Springtown; sons, James Carey, Jr. and wife, Irene of Duncanville, Thomas Carey, III of Quitman; daughters, Jeanne Pack and husband, Ronnie of Oklahoma, Nancy Cummings and husband, Bill of Fort Worth, Becky Williams and husband, Keith of Midland; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and his dogs, Marty (favorite), Bumper, and B,J.
