Harry Leroy Sloan

H.L. "Cherokee" Sloan, 76, of Midland, died Monday, December 22, 2003 peacefully in Weatherford surrounded by his family.

Harry Leroy "Cherokee" Sloan was born April 15, 1927 in Forrestburg, Texas to Holland Andrew and Lilly Carter Sloan. He served honorably in the United States Navy during World War II. Mr. Sloan was in the automobile business for many years in Midland. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, and two brothers.

Survivors include wife, Nancy Sloan; sons, Joe Andrew Sloan and wife, Deborah of Dallas, Cody Leroy Sloan and wife, Jeanie of Fort Worth, Kelly Quinton Sloan of Midland; daughters, Robin Rebecka Sloan of Weatherford, Nancy Ragan Davis and husband, Brian of Irving; grandchildren, Andrew and Alexis Sloan and Sloan Davis; brothers, H.A. Sloan of Pampa, Henry C. Sloan of San Angelo, Troy Sloan of Breckenridge.

Interment services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, December 29, 2003 in the Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery. 

Mr. Sloan will lie in state at White's Funeral Home, Weatherford from 8a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday and Friday. 

A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Friday, December 26, 2003 at Ellis Funeral Home in Midland, Texas.
