Sam W. Robertson, 89, died Thursday, Aug. 7, 2003, at his residence in Boyd, surrounded by his family
.Funeral: 2 p.m. Monday in White's Funeral Home Chapel.
Burial: Opal Cemetery.
Visitation: 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Sam was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. In his early years, he was a restauranteur. He later retired from security at Bank One. After his retirement, Sam was a hay and cattle farmer. He served in the 7th Cavalry as a horse soldier from 1933-1934. Sam was a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason. He belonged to Lodge #1195 in Fort Worth.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd A and Emma Robertson; sisters, Helen Moses and Ruth Fisher; and brothers, Phillip Robertson and Andy Robertson.
Survivors: Wife of 54 years, Virginia Robertson; son, Sam W. Robertson Jr. and wife, Gail, of Boyd; daughters, Alena Bays and husband, Harold, of Rhome, Virginia Glen Miller and husband, Bob, of Arlington, Barbara Sue and husband, Roy; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and brothers, Alton, Francis, and Clifford Robertson, all of Lubbock.
